Artists Trading Cards are very much the in thing in America and have become extremely popular in the UK over the past year. They are swapped whenever possible. Either on the net, at conventions, craft fairs or when meeting new friends.
There is only one important rule. An ATC must be only 2.5" x 3.5" or 64mm x 89mm.
Media, materials and techniques are totally up to you as an individual. Cards can be rubber stamped, painted, collaged or any other chosen method.
ATC's are ideal as a test for different techniques. Brayering, sponging, alcohol inks, a new stamp, unusual embellsihments. Anything goes - just remember the size.
You can make a one off or a series following a particular theme. For this purpose number each one and remember to date and sign the back of the card with either your name or non de plume. Add the stamp credit if applicable. Paper Artsy stamps are ideal for ATC's. However there are many more stamp ranges which will work well too. Why not make a little folder for them too. You can decorate this anyway you want and will keep them looking really crisp and clean for your swaps.
Here at Once upon a Time... we run workshops to help you with your creativity. Swops will take place by sending your card or cards to the store and the same number will be returned within 3 weeks. ( If we are inundated with swops it may take a little longer.)
